I like the breakbeat being mixed with the filtered breakbeat, or some kind of squelchy synth, the crunchy and soft kind of interacting

Thanks for all the comments yeah you got me, I was trying to add some spice to the bars and decided to experiment throwing in some old skool breakbeat loops but messing with them and, honestly, that's when I started to really feel the track myself! From memory, I used a few different instances of Pulveriser Demoliton Unit in Reason and did some automation, really highlights some funky haromonics!

love those opening pad chords and the whole groove of the song.  awesome variation of the main ostinato going on especially those deeper synths.
