Garden Ruin: Watchhorn

By Tristan Louth-Robins on March 20, 2014 8:22 am

We're moving house this weekend so there's barely any instruments around that haven't been packed or moved to the new place.  The little gretsch parlour guitar, my olympus ls-100 recorder and this laptop are practically the only thing I had on hand so I wrote this bluesy Garden Ruin number after I got home from work today.  Recorded in the kitchen with the window open (hence the peripheral traffic sounds) and added a bit of gain/light reverb in Logic 9.

Typical Garden Ruin lyrics: country upbringing, metaphors, the ocean, unrequited love, misery, gallows humour, etc.

Nice story telling

Groovy earthy blues ditty.  Almost gospel sounding?  Recording turned out pretty good for a quick one too.

Stands out of all the songs I've heard on here so far. Singing is great.

Hey, thanks everyone!  I promise to get around to listening/commenting soon..there's been serious lack of time lately and we're partially internet-less at the moment due to moving house hmm

A refreshing change of pace from almost everything else here, and a very good track!
