Zoetrope Station

This week I used the newly installed Spitfire Audio's free "Soft Piano" along with Izotope's free Vinyl plug-in and ELPHNT's free Tape effect for Ableton (yay free!).  I believe Ólafur Arnalds helped record the felty piano samples for Spitfire.  I wish I could afford his standalone version, that has some cool sounding pianos.  But I'm sure with some tweaking you can get all sorts of odd pianos.  I layered in some NYC subway ambiance from freetousesounds.com along with some odd shortwave raDio mumbles.  Tanks for listenin! smile

Wow i love the sound! Background is real nice!
Piano is beautyfull as always! Have to download this one big_smile

Gotta love free stuff.  This has a bit of a feel like it was recorded a long time ago.  The subtle subway noises add a nice touch as well.

beautiful, maggots brain on piano.

Yeah, that dreamy late-at-night between-trains subway ambiance.

Dang that piano sounds gorgeous.  Going to have to download those plug-ins.  Excellent, heart breaking, fragile work.  The low din of noise adds to this feeling of being lost in the shuffle of life.

I believe to hear the intro of „Funkadelic:  Maggot Brain“

Okay, good!  I thought it was some weird insult wink

So gentle. I'm not sure those effects are really necessary, but they help giving that fuzzy feeling.

oh this is so pretty!

Beautiful stuff, great use of free plugins, had to listen to this one twice!

I myself am an enthusiastic explorer in the realm of free plugins. I have all of these and the free Spitfire libraries are some of the nicest sounds I own. I also use the same vinyl and tape plugin almost every week! Another great one is that one knob saturator from Softube.

Beautiful piece as always, you have really brought out the best in that piano tone.

Thanks errrrbody for the nice comments and listening!  Free stuff is always good especially when it inspires new tracks smile  I def wanted the fx/plugins effecting the piano because my piano playing tends to be sloppy.  The dirty lofi feel for me personally gives it a "who cares if its sloppy it's me" feel.  I tend to quantize without thinking sometimes especially on the more electronic tracks.  Hopefully I'm making sense, coffee has not kicked in yet.  If I was classically trained and could nimbly walk my tiny fingers all over the keys theeeeen I guess I'd go for pristine piano smile  I'll have to check out that softube saturator too!  Ok time to catch up on your tracks! babbling me out!
