The Will

Slightly less procrastination this week.  Meaning I started on Friday and not Saturday tongue  I wanted to educate myself a bit more with my latest sample library Albion One.  So I watched a video on someone using it, got some ideas and was off to using as many different articulations of strings as possible.  Considering I didn't feel too confident about all the expression, modulation and vibrato options in Ableton before this week, I was at least happy that I managed to make it sound orchestral.  10 tracks of Strings, 2 Woods, 2 Brass, 2 Synth Pads, some Easter Island drums and cymbals are from Albion One.  3 synths from Ableton and 2 Pianos from Stratus and LABS.  Soooo it was kind of a mess to mix at first.  I think I sorta got it close enough.  I'm sure some mix engineer at AIR studios can do a fantabulous job but egh it works.  Tanks fer listenin! tongue

I think the orchestra sounds really good and full.  It works really well.  It gets quite epic and cinematic as it goes.  I could definitely see this soundtracking some kind of movie where they're traversing big snow covered mountains or something.

I agree with CosmicCairns, it sounds great and it feels like a soundtrack for something epic. I really enjoyed it, and would happily listen to more experiments!

This is awesome man, very intricate.  Must have taken a long time to apply all the articulation detail.  It definitely shows though since it sounds very realistic.  Love the little synth parts buried in here too.

By the way, I started watching Westworld season 3 and just got to the episode with the scene you scored.  I got to say, the actual music from the episode really sucked compared to what you, and a lot of other people I saw on Instagram did for it.  I guess it kind of went with the whole genre drug theme, but it definitely didnt have the same impact.

Ohhh nice jobs on these strings. This gave me goosebumps. These strings lines are so cool and the way you add the brass in to give more body. This is EPIC. All these orchestral instruments are from Albion one?

Big and majestic! The sounds are lush but the strings have an edge to them. You really have an entire orchestra up and running and very well articulated. Very well done!

The orchestral composition sounds so majestetic and sublime. You did an exellent job. It will help to keep on experimenting on such massive soundlayers, you will for sure improve your skills into the direction you want.

This is a thick track. You cover a lot of space with a beautiful mix of instruments that start out creating a melodic idea that is the backbone of this track. The intensity in here evolves through stages. I'm a sucker for bass violin, and loved the thick strokes. Nice use of the drums at 2:40, where they snap the track from its elevated intensity towards its end. That was a really cool use of drums.

Thanks I was hoping it kinda conjured that image.  It sorta did in my head after mixing it and hearing it over and over smile

Thanks I'm gonna try my best to stay motivated and do that.  There might be some quiet ambient noodlings in between some weeks. smile

Thanks I really appreciate you saying that.  I don't know if you watched the winners announcement video but there was a big controversy in the winner they picked.  The winning composer did a chip tune meets orchestra track and even though on it's own it sounded good a lot of people were totally miffed on how it would have ever been used in the actual show.  There were 11,000 entries I think so I find it hard to believe they actually were able to listen to every track in full.  But meh it was a fun experience.  The winner though damn he got the entire spitfire audio sample library.  I think I would have to buy hard drives from Costco to fit em all!

Yep all the strings, woodwinds, brass and big drums are from Albion One.  There's a ton of sounds available and I've barely scratched the surface.  It's a bit overwhelming at first smile

Thanks everyone for listening I really appreciate the feedback smile

Massive cine-scape. I'm transported, big things building, stages being set in this scene. Great production, low end rumbled the chest. Needs to be in that new Christopher Nolan movie, which I hope comes out soon. I like that it built to climax of tension, but then resolved in the final act. Sorry you didn't win the Westworld contest, you're probably right, they couldn't hear them all. Chiptune thing won? I gotta go check that out.

Those low celli/bass tones in the second half are great.  Spitfire do make nice gear.  Found a couple of bad samples over the years but overall, great quality.

I was just about to pick a movie to watch and this is definitely influencing the mood of what I'm going to choose. Great stuff!

Nice.

Yesssss great build, and great use of the Ablion stuff. Keen for more of this!
