This week I stumbled upon Spinning On Air's show dedicated to the Andalusian Cadence.

So after being somewhat inspired/reminded of some of my favorite songs, I figured meh, I'll base this week's track off of that well known chord sequence.  Because of this it ends up sounding very familiar and well almost like a cover of certain tracks.  I won't name the track that slept in my brain this week because then that wouldn't be fun. smile  Anywho before this becomes a novel. kthxbai!

Channeling some Massive Attack piano there! Towards the end, the melody kind of reminds me of Portishead a bit. Dope!

great mellow track on a lovely mellow sunday

Dude, this is so chill. That dark piano-y sound with the super percussive backing is really killer. Love it.

Im a mid tempo kind of listener. This has the right amount of slink and forward movement. Groovy. I definitely dig.

yup portishead - roads, def was the almost identical early version of this, so i tried to steer away from almost making this sound like a cover, but their style and that genre has always influenced me so it's hard not to smile before i joined this website this track would have been shelved because of the similarity.  That podcast/show helped get me going though.  Thanks for listening smile  Time to procrastinate yet again! (and duh listen to all the other cool tracks on here!)

Sounds similar to your other track Pangolin... Nice lowpass filter, is it? Really lacking this stuff in the program I use, but oh well.. smile

really slick and gentle track. The progressions towards the chorus is great and the chorus itself absolutely fantastic. Love it! My favorite so far!

Si, a lowpass filter has been at times overly used but I'm also trying to stick with similar sounds, techniques when making new stuff.  smile

Great chill filter work

Love how you take your time bringing it in. The atmosphere you create is incredible. Though at times i wanted it more darker and haunting. Also great buildup and dynamic range. Chhhhilido fomo Dias!

Like! Beautiful sounds and arrangement.

Excellent job, track stays fresh throughout, best track I've heard so far this week, and thanks for the feedback you left me, I appreciate it

nice

Yeah! This is great! And the way the chorus lifts off is sweeeet!

Beautiful track!
I wasn't aware of how common that chord sequence really is before now. It could make a good weekly theme, although you probably have set the bar too high for most of us to dare the comparison now smile

Great track. Of course it's hard not to think of that popular trip hop track, but I like how you adapted everything. It has a movie soundtrack feel to it. Nice work!

definitely agreeing with hints of portishead/massive attack here. low pass filter is tasteful and perfect in this one. another great tune!

definitely see portishead, very nice

This has a really nice atmosphere.  I also dug the little pauses.

This is glorious.  Great build, and great use of guitar and synth.  I especially like the synth figure against the guitar ostinato.  Well done!

^ Whoops--that comment was for week 7, sorry!

This one's really good as well, subtle and also has a great gradually building structure. Great keyboard ostinato, and yes, the overall progression does make me think of Portishead. The word "epic" might be overused, but here I think it fits.  Great work.

That Portishead song is 20 years old this year... time to feel old D=

Yup amazing how time flies and a lot of good music from that year too. Around this time ('94), I believe I would've been downloading midi files of songs and working on my first tracks in Cakewalk .wrk files!  Twelve Tone Systems what!?

Loving all your sounds Tone Matrix, Downloaded them all up to now!

This is absolutely incredible! It hits all the right spots in my brain, trance-inducing track mate smile

Great work on this, love the feel of it.

I'm in love with your production techniques, like a smooth vapour flowing through my ears!
