Moss

I think I'm still a bit burnt out from my trailer submission.  I barely had any motivation this week even though I tried to work on new stuff.  So here's a quiet lil thing in the meantime.  I hope everyone is doing well and not stressing too much.

I dont blame you man, that trailed must have been a beast of a project.  Cool as hell though.  Like the vibe in this one too.  Much more laid back but definitely some great sound design.

I can believe the trailer took a lot out of you.  This is a nice little come-down track though.  I like the synth sound.  It's very warm and pleasant.

so moody! love the really wide tape flutter on the piano and strings. feels like a cold day in the city

fav great with the noize really enjoying this one. gives me lots of inspiration

That way you spoke about the trailer the last two weeks made it sound like it took a lot of work. When I heard the quality of it last week, I could hear the work that went into it. Moss has a really ethereal, shady forest/bassy sound. I'm realizing the use of a tuba and low horns more often. You're making me want to use more orchestral instruments. A recommendation: The white/red/blue noise could be turned down maybe 2-3 db. I like to use white noise a little quieter, to set an atmosphere that might not be noticed, and do a 12db or 24db low pass filter on the high end with my drop point starting between 8-12k. It seems to provide space while hiding in the background.

Digging this, cool moods, and sounds. yeah, rainy day in the city ... no night, yeah that's right. Little magic lights in the windows. Now I gotta go catch up and learn about the trailer!

I’m really enjoying this one, great mixture of sounds and that background hiss/static works so well.

Cool lo-fi vibe. That bass sounds like a wandering organism darting through synth pad ponds smile Where did you pull that bass from? Great sound!

beautiful

Thanks!  The bass is from Olafur Arnalds' Stratus instrument I have from Spitfire Audio.  The main instrument included in the software is piano (not used in this track) but there are additional synth patches to use.  I believe it was sampled either from his Korg PS-3100 or Juno 60.  Thanks for listening!

i feel like i could bend down and put my ear up to some moss & this is the sound that would be heard

Beautiful. Definitely something organic and "natural" about this even though there are some blatantly electronic tones. What is the main synth here? So tasty.

Thanks!  This is from Stratus again.  The main part of the software is for creating tiny melodies through the notes/chords you play.  The main instrument in the software is Olafur Arnalds' felted piano but there's also a version that I think is either from his Juno 60 or Korg PS-3100.  I added some lofi color via Stray Cats' ableton audio effects.  Also replying to your "cart is full" comment.  Haha yep same here, Spitfire has officially finished my wishlist for this year and prob next between Albion One and Stratus.

Lovely organic tones on a beautiful bed of noise. Fine with me  big_smile
