I Destroy

By Tone Matrix on March 6, 2022 7:03 pm

I had an unusually productive week I guess you could say. smile
My original hopes at the beginning of the month were to mayyyyybe put together a small ep sized piano album.
I had actually been pretty productive just recording random improvs during the month.  But none of them actually came across as being a full track or just inspiring to me.  The procrastinating turned into a sudden burst of creativity because on Monday I accidentally came up with 4 new tracks in about 3 hours whilst noodling away on the keyboard.
I'm just super happy with myself for finally being happy with my own music... and uh myself for a change?
So I really feel like i had one of those epiphanical moments.

This was actually really fun to work on altogether too.  I wasn't obsessing over the "doesn't this frequency sound odd?" moments like I had all last year.
Also all y'alls support and comments were so awesome and helpful! smile

Of the 4 from Monday night's recording, here's "I Destroy".

Oh duh and if you would like to check out the album, it be on bandcamp!
hopefully the embed code works otherwise,
https://tonematrix.bandcamp.com
is the address

EDIT:::: OK Apparently I don't know how to paste the bandcamp embed correctly.
But yes the link is above tongue

Thanks again so much for your support and listening smile

this is all so fantastic!
flow state is so magical!
so happy for you!

Wow, that's awesome man.  I have bursts of creativity from time to time, but never 4 tracks in a few hours.  Very happy for you.  Checked out the new ones on Band Camp, great work.   I think I like Jab the most.  It reminds me a bit of the piano part of the song Wait for Sleep by Dream Theater (but I'm always thinking Dream Theater).  Very uplifting in a somber kind of way.  Really cool to see you put out a full album this far into the year. Also, just realized I missed that last 2 weeks of your tracks somehow.  Sorry about that'd dude, I'll check them out tonight.

everything you wrote above sounds fine. the pianotrack needs to be listened a few times more, because I don`t catch all beautiful nuances at the first time.

Love the title for some reason.  It contrasts with the somber mood of the composition putting a more nuanced  meaning to what it is to destroy.  The playing flows at the pace of breathing which is a nice touch and then  at the end you have the only uninterrupted section as the song ends. Nice work!

Glad you were able to find a burst of inspiration.  It's always awesome when that happens.  This is very elegant and contemplative.  A piano ep by you sounds like a fantastic idea. I'll have to check it out.

Thanks man I really appreciate you saying that and thanks for checking out the album!  Yea it was def a first for me.  Like a switch flipped and I'm finally just happy with what I'm making good or bad.  Don't know if I'll be putting out anything else this year but I def think the process is now much more fun and easier for me compared to how I was approaching it before.  The piano concentration def helped me focus thats for sure smile

I'm so happy for you and I'm so proud of you.  This sounds so freeing.

You destroyed your shadow of self-doubt.

You rule.

That’s awesome that you could get this much done in a short period of time, I can barely cobble together a few loops each week, will have to check out the album, I did see your photo on bandcamp, that’s a serious beard!

Cheers to your inspiration! It gives us wonders. That is one beautiful and evocative piano piece. I hope your creative burst will go on and on! smile

Yay, congrats! This is so exciting to hear (the story, news, and the song)! Music from that magical flow of a creative burst is amazing, what an experience. I had a lovely peaceful calm moment just now listening to this song looking out the window, thanks for that. Congrats on releasing the EP, I'll go get it on Bandcamp!

You lied!  You said there would be synths this week.  tongue

Lovely piece once again. Dig those low register tones.  Pushing the limit.

So happy to hear you found some sounds and some music that you're happy with. Makes all the exploration and experimentation worth the effort. I really like this as "staring out the window on a rainy day" music. smile

Haha thanks man.  The beard is all I have left after it fell off my head and onto my face smile

Haha totally did!  I think I puked out most of the piano then.  Although it keeps creeping in the synth tracks smile  Thanks!

Thank you everyone for listening and supporting new music! smile
