Falling Into Ruins

By Tone Matrix on May 22, 2022 10:37 pm

Even though I would prefer to get back to more varied instrumentation (basically more pads and percussive sound or three) the piano noodles are usually more therapeutic for me personally.  A good hour long sit-down at the old Roland is a good distraction from everything.  I seriously would have much more difficulty coming up with something if Ableton 'Capture' didn't capture my happy carefree accidents.  Thanks for listening, I hope everyone is doing well. smile

This is so beautiful, my SO eventually stopped working on their laptop to ask who did it.

this would be the perfect accompaniment for an old black and white movie. very beautiful noodles.

I can see how this would be therapeutic to do.  It's very peaceful and calming to listen to.

Such a pleasure listening to this, great way to reset, listening right before going to bed

I wish I could capture full songs at the piano the way you do.  The easy part, to me, would be back filling with layers of instruments.

As little thought as you claim went into this, this is very thought provoking stuff.

Therapeutic for me as well. Thanks!

What I find very interesting and inspiring in this track is how you can play the same line with subtle variations of feel that alter the meaning and the emotion of it. That would be something difficult to capture for instance in sheet music. Whereas a lot of bars would be the same, the actual played piece has subtle variations that are orthogonal to the notes, subtleties of dynamics evoking nostalgia, a brooding atmosphere or even hope sometimes. Thank you for this beautiful work.

this is just gorgeous - i'm so glad it got captured!

saw this on NPR this week & thought you might dig Svaneborg Kardyb

some piano noodling, followed by just the right re-instrumentation, can work out so well.  a number of my WB entries so far came from that route (though I don't have the skill for the noodling alone to fly...).

very nice

Ahh yes, I could listen to the solo piano for hours, this is the third in row of yours I'm hearing, and it's a great experience during my friday work day here at the desk, watching trees blow around in the front yard.  I so agree about sitting down on an instrument of choice and just creating is the perfect escape and therapy, Creating music I feel is as much or more for ourselves than it may be for the listener.
