This week I'm proud to say was probably thee most fun I've had working on a WB track in a very long time.  Emily and I started throwing files back and forth to see if it sparked anything.  She sent over some ambience recorded from her noisy neighbors and a synth track to see if anything came to mind.  Being the pianer noodler that I ham, I hit play and jumped on the old Roland RD700GX keys and plunked on some chords.  Sent a rough idea to her which got approval and then I almost broke my tiny brain trying to fit in certain chords I thought I was hearing.  Til I finally realized that I was overthinking it and should adapt a bit more then things started to fall in place.  After I had the piano down she worked on vocals and the overall mix you hear.  Then she had the awesome JWH contribute some sweet sounding bass/vocals.  We both seem to have our own versions of noisy neighbors.  Mine decided to erect a bouncy house right next to my backyard and enjoy the "THIS IS TRAP" playlist. Either way I like to think this track was the therapy we needed and the soundtrack/score to the feelings we were having throughout the week.

99.9% of my tracks lack a true bassline.  It's mainly just me plunking on a root note.  But this was awesome to hear real bass in tune with what I was hearing.  In fact after the bass and vocals were added and Emily's mix was sent over, I almost thought someone else was playing the piano.  It sounded so much better than what I'm used to.  I'm not trying to sugarcoat it either, it was such a cool experience working on this and also just hearing ideas get developed and flourish without having the usual sole anxiety/procrastination fit I have the day or so before deadline.  Before I ramble another novel here.  I'm really proud of this track and thank Emily & Josh for their awesome creativity/musicianship and inspiring me to enjoy the rest of the WB year.

If you haven't already please stop by Emily's page.  Without her and JWH I probably would have released another 2min noodle tongue
Thank you for listening and reading, I hope you are all having a nice day/night where ever you may be.

you all work together so beautifully, i heard the other first, and this one feels entirely different, yet still keeps that bass and your piano arriving all at once with this magical gravity while the voices are even more haunting here. keep up the awe-inspiring work! heart

This is really fantastic. I love hearing the collaborations that come together as a part of WB and this feels so natural I feel like you guys should work on an EP or something some day.

That's some fine piano wizardry, you work well together. Not that there's anything wrong with the noodles of course.

i like the noodles too & thank you for trying something new with us!

What a beautiful collab. Wonderful work, all of you! big_smile

Really nice collaboration.  Your styles mesh well together.  It's really cool to see stuff like this coming from WB.

This sounds like a great collaborative artistic experience. And the result really shows. I like how subtle it is - the voice works as a layer, as a frame for the rest. The piano is heavy, sometimes threatening, sometimes more subdued (and I must say, always pretty Reznoresque smile ). The low bass drone like adds to the atmosphere. That was a fantastic track. Ok now I need to hop into emily's version.

this track is breathtaking. so deep and intense. love it.

awesome journey, great collab! That low end, the piano and bass vibrated deeply, chords perk up the senses. Great one

SO happy to read this:

"This week I'm proud to say was probably thee most fun I've had working on a WB track in a very long time"

I always worry about you having fun!  I heard Em's version, this is so cool that y'all did this!

The whispers sound like insects twittering in the fog against these cold, imposing chords.  A mystical forest for the ears.

Are you forming the first WB Virtual band? Nice to hear about the collaboration and together, you are building something unique.  It's easy to pick out your individual contributions, which is kind of cool, for us regular listeners smile Love the big big ominous sound of this track!

Fantastic work, the restraint in the piano playing / all that space for ambience & bass is absolutely perfect. One of my all-time favorite things from WB of all time. heart

double comment with emily's post of this

really nice ambience here, steady would-be-serene if not for the underlying tension.

hits me like a combo of the lowkey movements in deadmau5's while 1<2, with the transition-to-the-"beast"-side vibes of clark's feast/beast

Thank you everyone for taking the time to listen to both pages (even tho the track is the same).  I really appreciate your kind comments.  The whole process was very natural and inspiring.  Mayhaps more like this down the line smile  but either way so glad to have y'all around for the support and inspiration.  *grouphugfromafar*

The power of collaboration.  Love it!
