Desolation and Redemption

By Tone Matrix on December 4, 2022 4:22 pm

The usual procrastination led to me finally working (noodling) on some new stuff.  After what felt like a 10min jam sesh after hitting the capture button in ableton I realized I had 55mins of "stuff" to sort through.  So I went to bed thinking "ok I'll sift thru that and hopefully find at least a 1min chunk".  I sat down Saturday night to try and figure out the chords I was playing and sift thru that 55min clip.  Butt... Instead I ended up improvising something entirely different an poof 5mins later i settled on this pasta favorite.  That 55min clip will prob be saved for a rainy day listen cuz I know there mistakes o'plenty in it.  Thanks for reading and listening.  Hope you all are staying warm and having a good weekend!

Beautiful pianos. I really like the pads, is is just a crazy reverb or you have multiple tracks?

Somber but peaceful.  Lovely piano sound.

quite a piece, very nice.

Beautiful, bravo. It sounds amazing.

Perhaps you can release the practice run separately in its full glory elsewhere.

Another beautiful and soulful piano piece.  Really nice and soothing and creates a great sonic space to inhabit for five minutes.

this is absolutely beautiful

woah the very first gif that popped up when i typed "desolation gif" in duck duck go image search wink

Sometimes just need a reset and then things start flowing, beautiful piece of music, lovely pads lurking under the piano.

Solemn and subdued.  Lovely impro indeed.

It's a combo of Ableton's Large Space Chorus reverb and a free plugin I got a few weeks ago called DEELAY.  Def has some inspiring presets to start off ideas. sixthsample.com/deelay/

haha nice!  I've been reading (or at least attempting to) the Silmarillion so maybe some of it seeped into my tiny noggin smile

Thanks everyone for stoppin by and the nice comments smile  Always appreciated!

excellent trajectory: at first feels so sullen, but then ever-awakens into newer feels of hope heart

Sounds like a solitary journey through a forrest. The chord progression has these spots of uplift where the sun shines through. The reverb adds a other worldly accompaniment ringing in the background.

A beautiful and haunting piece. This reminded me a bit of the atmosphere of Westworld.
