Barnacle

By Tone Matrix on March 23, 2014 11:01 pm

This week I will litter this description with many words.
I've been sick all week and had no mucous err I mean motivation to fathom working on a track.  Thankfully my Nyquil drip and such amenities were able to push me to the keyboard by Sunday morning.  I would like to thank Key Sequence (a Floridian as well) who's Ableton pack "Knock On Wood" helped get the percussion for this track started.  I don't remember what happened in between other than blowing my nose but then I decided to add a field recording of a tide pool from Freesound.org.  The end smile  Links to the Ableton pack & freesound are below.  Thanks to Key Sequence and Rocktopus (the cool human with the microphone and better equipped shoes).  If there wasn't the vast amount of downloadable "fun" on the internet I would have some boring music!

Lovely track!

I just read what's in Nyquil. Gonna have to check if it's available in Oz

I'm not sure if it's just a placebo effect from reading your description prior to listening (guess, time-travel notwithstanding, we'll never know...) but I most certainly got the strongest sense of numbness, sickness and the tedium of recovery from this track. The steady swells are like the rising of dulled aches and pains - mostly, but not ever entirely, subdued by the medicine. Very powerful track and a fine addition to your canon here - thanks for sharing! big_smile

Woah... That's a really killer bass. The wood samples and the water sounds give it a really deep atmosphere, and the melody is really nice...

The dark side of Florida?

I could listen to this on repeat for hours and not get bored of it, this is definitely going into the "lie down, eyes closed play list"

Production quality is top notch as usual wink

Love it smile

Feel better!

Really cool track, and I love the melody and choice of synths overall. Keep using the Nyquil wink

I really enjoyed that. Very cool sounds and composition. The melody is great! Get well soon Tone Matrix!

spongebob would say: hey! this doesn't sound like barnacle at all! which is, in bikinispeak, a compliment, I suppose wink

Wonderful track. Excellent sound design and the melody complements the soundscape perfectly.
Get well soon!

Definitely seems like it would go good with a little NyQuil.  It also for some reason made me imagine swimming underwater at night.  Maybe it's the tide pool sounds exerting some subtle influence.  Anyway I dig it!

really awesome production! The melodies are catchy as hell and very well performed. Each element really stands out fantastically.

the bass is great, as is the rest of the track. i always get that underwater feel from your tracks, and i love it. i'd like to think i can hear effect of being sick - the song feels like it meanders - but i think your overall sense of musicality prevails, because it doesn't detriment from the effect (if anything, it adds to it). it's a great track.
