Anxiety Is

Almost every week during the past few months I've had the initial intention of trying to do a lo-fi hip hop-like track.  Ya know anything like Chillhop records has on their compilations? Recycled piano with a chunky beat...  It starts out with me trying to do one of those beats and maybe I'll add some nice piano chords to give it that standard lo-fi feel.  Nope!  I had already committed to the chord progression so I figured I might as well move forward with it.  I think it's probably best for me that I just let whatever happens rather than try to make a specific genre.  I have surgery this Wednesday (hence the title) so I'm hoping by the end of the week the painkillers won't be too noticeable in the next track.  Otherwise psychedelic_ambient it is! tongue  Thanks for listening smile

The beat still gives it a little bit of a hip-hop feel I think.  It reminds me a little of some of the stuff Folk Implosion did on the Kids soundtrack.  Good luck on the surgery.  Hope you recover quickly.

The great thing about chord progressions is how easy it is to change them, this one's nice though.

Have fun with your surgery, it's a better attitude than most.

oh this is lovely!  i do that a lot too - go in with an intention to try a genre etc. but then something else usually always happens - but it's cool that the idea still took you someplace - at least for me following that inclination towards the idea helps with inertia... it get's the ball rollin'- que sera sera eh?  smile

Totally get it, if I have a pre-conceived plan it never goes that way, best to go with the flow, in life and music, dope track, still has a hip hop feel, like the repeating pad in the background and great melodies pushing things forward, I hope you have a speedy recovery!

The music wants what the music wants. Really well done.

Smooth and groovy! I think the beat gives this a nice hip-hop feel, although maybe not the one you originally intended.
Hope your surgery went well and that you recover quickly!

Getting some nice Moby and Hot Chip vibes here and there, I like a lot smile I'm the same whenever I start something and I think I know where I'm headed, the music says otherwise and I follow it, I think it's the right way smile

Although I'm commenting a few weeks late, I really wish you're getting well very soon, Eric.

I came from a boom-bap background and I always envy how you manage melodic ambiences and progressions with such ease, so... there's plenty of "lo-fi/one bar beat over and over/sp-404 mixtape" around. Your stuff stands by itself, so enjoy making such good music smile
