The beat still gives it a little bit of a hip-hop feel I think.  It reminds me a little of some of the stuff Folk Implosion did on the Kids soundtrack.  Good luck on the surgery.  Hope you recover quickly.

The great thing about chord progressions is how easy it is to change them, this one's nice though.

oh this is lovely!  i do that a lot too - go in with an intention to try a genre etc. but then something else usually always happens - but it's cool that the idea still took you someplace - at least for me following that inclination towards the idea helps with inertia... it get's the ball rollin'- que sera sera eh?

Totally get it, if I have a pre-conceived plan it never goes that way, best to go with the flow, in life and music, dope track, still has a hip hop feel, like the repeating pad in the background and great melodies pushing things forward, I hope you have a speedy recovery!

I came from a boom-bap background and I always envy how you manage melodic ambiences and progressions with such ease, so... there's plenty of "lo-fi/one bar beat over and over/sp-404 mixtape" around. Your stuff stands by itself, so enjoy making such good music
