The Impulse - July Bop

By Tomatron.Jones on July 7, 2024 9:46 pm

Yet another stream-of-consciousness sound collage track. This one centers around (like previous) some guitar sample. I did a lot more sample chopping in this as well. Lots of percussion layers and glitchiness in percussion / drum layers. Lots of automation of plugins and FX. The main guitar loop was kind of playful and fun, hence a 'bop'.

* Synth bass from Ableton bass instruments
* Samples from Splice
* Ableton Simpler for sample chopping
* Ample use of Valhalla, Transit, Trackspacer plugins (and more)
* Gullfoss and Ozone for mastering

Total time: ~6 hours

This is fantastic. I listened to this journey while making coffee and got completely lost and then was completely shocked to see it's only 2.5 minutes?! There's an amazing amount of movement, dynamics and diversity of sound in a short time and it all sounds beautifully cohesive, absolutely like a complete idea but with that free form stream of consciousness lightness and joy. Really awesome, loved it.
