Infinite Regress

By Tomatron.Jones on April 19, 2026 11:56 pm

I didn't start working on this until a few hours before it was due. I found a neat synth patch, started pitch shifting and messing with it, realized I stumbled upon an interesting chord progression I had written on guitar long ago, and took it to the limit - a sort of infinitely progressing '2-5-1'-ish progression I think. It's almost like the harmonic equivalent of a Shepard tone that sounds like it goes up forever. Inspired by some Flying Lotus lo-fi production as well. Had some fun with the bass as well, matching it to the kick, and the lead synth line. Threw in some random samples of kids cheering for fun. Definitely ran out of time on this and it got a little messy, but it's kinda fun.

* Splice Samples for drums, kid vox
* Bass from Ableton bass instruments
* Ableton Wavetable and Splice sample for Snyths
* Transit, Valhalla plugins
* Gullfoss + Izotope Elements for master

Total time: 3 hours 15 minutes

Great sound, nice and rich, very upbeat and positive. The kid vox was a great addition (I especially enjoyed "Bummer!"). Lots of fun.

Thanks! I wish I had a bit more time to have made better use of the voice samples.
