Domino

Created as an exercise in MIDI and audio connections, because I discovered ADAT 25 years late.

3 Eurorack oscillators, 1 hardware delay and multiple interconnected Ableton FX across Live 8 and Live 10.

I've been looking for something extra to add, but I don't have a clue.

Guess I should be sleeping now... Hope you have some great sunny week in your corner of the world smile

Giving me some stranger things vibes with that sweet synth that cuts thru the mix so nicely. Really cool rhythmic pattern that has a chill hypnotic feel to it too.  Dig the lil flare of tension in the outro.

Thanks a lot for the detailed comments, Eric! I am using a remote machine to transmit the signals from the modular to my main Ableton setup. It adds some latency and, since I've never really learnt how to compensate that pre-record, I just move the tracks manually a certain amount, so they fit with their expected "MIDI position" in the arrangement.

And all this rant is because... I think in the "second part / conclusion" I misplaced the delay track 1/64th, so it has some weird swing to it. Also... I tripped into my "time" slider on the delay, so I could never find the exact adjustment (the whole track was build on two days and two "MIDI to audio" takes.

Sorry for the huuuuuge rant. Guess I needed to discuss production.

Thanks for always being there, man. Means a lot smile

This is a great composition. The effects chain keeps this bouncing around the mix, even if you hear mistakes, it sounds intentional to me!

Puts me in mind of Sasha's Airdrawndagger, which is a massively slept on early 00s electronica lp...

that delay holds it all together, love how the main synth line jumps around and cuts through.

Thanks a lot for the Sasha recommendation. I was barely aware of his house stuff and the existance of the corny supercommercial trance artist "Sash!" in the nineties prevent me to discover his stuff because I thought they were the same artist.

It was a good album and quite a good listening. Thanks for listning and the kind words smile

Oh, as I previously stated in my answer to Tonematrix, some of the swing of that delay was almost unintentional, though I'm happy you're enjoying it. It is true that adds something to a somewhat dull arrangement smile

Thanks a lot for your comment smile

Domino is a great title as the initial dub chord stab sets things off and gets things moving, there is a set course but some uncertainty on how things will unfold.  Thanks for the sunshine wishes, as I listen and look outside the window it is cold and blowing snow, no sign of sunshine yet.
