Hide or Seek

By Tomatron.Jones on December 8, 2024 11:56 pm

This one was inspired very directly by a few things:
1) The track 'Hide' by Dorian Concept
2) The artist Disasterpeace's general sound
3) A chord progression / riff on keys I've been noodling with for a new song for my band 'Atomic Pines'

I like the crunchy, lo-fi sound of Disasterpeace and the idea of an interesting riff or loop from Dorian Concept. I kinda went all out with various layers and automation, leaning into the lo-fi and glitchiness. Perhaps a bit to much, a bit too much crunchiness and not enough time to really balance it out is gonna annoy me. Otherwise, I enjoyed this one. Used my e-piano to play the parts and record the piano sound from.

* Piano sound from my Yamaha e-piano (forgot the model)
* Ableton bass for bass
* Helm, Ableton Wavetable, and Massive for synths
* Ample use of Transit, Trackspacer
* Gullfoss and Ozone Elements 10 for mastering
