Sitting in a car

By Tom Foolery on February 20, 2022 7:13 am

More guitars this week. Lots of fiddling with amp settings trying to figure out how to get the guitar tones I want (sufficiently harsh but still able to play dissonant chords).

Again, was really wanting to add vocals to this, which I might get around to one day, but have no idea where to start. Hopefully I'll get around to it on a weeklybeat soon.

If it wasn't BY-NC-ND, I'd already be trying to remix some of those riff for next week

stylish drive

hey, this are supergood guitartones you are pressing out of your amp. Love this.

Distorted dissonance that sounds good is the holy grail. Something I think Mesa rectifiers do a great job with. What amp you using here?

Sounds nice. In isolation this tone is really nice. In a mix, it might need some low end chopped off.

Ps you should tag your stuff “guitar” so I find it when I search

This has so much emotion in it for me, though maybe not one of sitting in a car, just of melancholy in general.

yeah, this is nice. lovely crunchy tone

Thanks for all the positive words about the tone! I'm using a Vox VT40+, not convinced that it is capable of the best of tones but the flexibility of the amp models make it nice and interesting.

Noted on tagging, had never even thought about tagging uploads.

Agreed, melancholy was the intented vibe. Sitting in a car was just what I spent a lot of the week doing that week. Not very good at getting inspiration for track titles!

Nice track! Gives me the melancholy vibes. but with the title Sitting in a car I'm thinking of a grumpy person getting away from the overbearing family or something like that big_smile

Nice experimenting with the tone. It's rare to have a solo distorted guitar track but this one works!

On adding vocals - with a high risk of it becoming a comedy track - try improvising some shit on the fly, that matches emotionally what you hear. 3 takes maximum! give it some sparkly reverb, DONE! maybe it's a way to get started, idk big_smile
