Is there an echo in here?

Running very late on this one. Not necessarily due to a lack of time, just procrastination from a lack of inspiration I am afraid.

It has been a pretty good week overall with some ups and downs. Some lovely bike rides and runs. Battling impostor syndrome at work. Bike rave, and watching friends play a gig. Watched the Devil Wears Prada 2 at the cinema. A day in the testing lab at work. Spent today wandering around a gallery and finding some places in the city I had never explored. After riding my bike yesterday, my hand had not been feeling 100% so no guitar this week sadly. Thought I would try something different and make a track with the ableton stock plugins! Not overly inspired, but a fun challenge! Making synths and vocals fit together is much harder than guitars for me for some reason.

Hoping I have a bit more time and inspiration next week but I'm powering on through!

clip my wings
and I'll yearn to fly
give me the truth
I can't help but lie

face to face with my
self again
clean the mirror
I can see it clear

your vocal layering is a delight on this one, Warwick. works really well with the warbly textures & beat!
glad you had some ups on that ol' rollercoaster last week heart

really cool and inspiring to hear your music!  v clear but nice sounding vocals (sometimes if smth is clear it can be not dirty enough or not interesting/gritty but for vocals it's nice to make it v understandable for the lyrics, but still somehow have a vibe to it. I feel like you achieve it and also make it sound natural like you're not using a special singing voice but rather the normal speaking voice).

Love how the bass/keys sound with your voice.  Such a warm nostalgic feel immediately.  Oooh that gritty synth at :53 \m/ This is awesome!  Excellent use of the ableton stock plugins.  Reminds me there's so much in there to use yikes

Love the skill this shows, that you can make something like this when procrastinating and uninspired heart

Synth parts are perfect, and your mix has clarity and weight to it...that lead vocal line sounds sounds great. But those stacked vocals - oh my. The moving chord voicings you're using for those lines is great, and mesh with the pads so well - where the whole is so much bigger than the sum of its parts. And gotta give a shout out to your lyrics again. Lyrics and poetry are two distinct things, but sometimes they're both. Lovely. Favorited.

The vocals mesh really well with the synths to my ears, and I feel good vibes coming from the music.

Is there an echo in here. 🤔 Hold on, let me check.

Hold on, let me check.

This is such a lovely vibe. The pads, the bell arp, the vocal melody, the restrained beat, they’re all wonderful. 😊

It's always lovely to hear positive words about my voice, it has taken me a very long time to get comfortable with it, so I appreciate this a lot. Thank you for listening heart

I do enjoy a synth run through some distortion! Glad you liked it! There is so much to dig out of ableton, I could spend a lifetime digging through it if I had the patience! Thank you for listening heart

That is very very kind of you to say. Your first comment is something I should remind myself - not every week is going to be amazing and I should be proud of what I can churn out even if I am uninspired! Also, your comments on my lyrics are far too kind. I am truly flattered, thank you. heart

This made me laugh heartily! Thank you for listening and giving me a good chuckle, and also your kind words too heart

This one really hits all the right notes!!! The vocal layering is great, the rhythmic synth elements and the clean simple percussion complement it excellently and create a small intimate space for the piece to sit it, and that lead sounds great!!! The "lack of inspiration" still resulted in a great piece, so consider yourself talented smile

I love the synth notes you use in this! Great accent to a great song

I love how peaceful the melody is in this one
