Heaven is a thing we do

You would think with a three day weekend I would have time for weeklybeats??? Unfortunately I misjudged how much I thought I could achieve, and although I achieved a lot, I did not get as much music time as I wanted. So instead, I quickly whipped this up in an hour or so. Reasonably happy with how it all came together even if it is a bit uninspired.

This week has been busy, but lovely! A short work week always flies by. I had some lovely interactions with my colleagues that made me feel very much welcomed into the new job and reminded me just how far I have come with putting myself out there in social situations. I feel quite proud of that.

With my long weekend, I went on a social group ride, which despite cycling for a very long time, I had never actually done! Unsurprisingly, I had a blast, and met a few nice people too! I went for lunch with my old colleagues, which was really nice. It was fun to catch up and see how things are going there. (The problem I was unable to solve was outsourced to an expert contractor who has so far been unable to solve it in 2 months which does make me feel a little bit vindicated, but also it would be great if the problem was just solved!). I took down a tree that needed to come down in the courtyard, which was quite a rewarding experience. It was also sad to remove something that was beautiful, and to see all the insects that had been living in it come down too - it was quite a reflective gardening session. This process was made a lot easier by my new colleagues lending me gardening equipment and power tools which is VERY KIND! The cats are currently enjoying finding all the new sunny spots they can sit in too.

Saturday was for running, house inspections, and a haircut. It's always so nice to go and see my barber. It's always nice to feel crisp and clean with a nice haircut. He also appreciates how much I enjoy having a nice fresh haircut (and he always does such a good job). I am also in awe of the stories he tells about his life, outrageous and unfiltered. He has certainly lived a full life!

Today was for more running in the very very cold morning, followed by some warm coffee and sitting in the sun! I also had promised a friend who works in a kakigori store that I would stop by and try some which, although not wanting to leave the house again, I followed through on and I am very glad I did. She was delighted to see me, and I had such a fun time watching her prepare the ice with the shaving machine. I walked through the streets eating what felt like snow. It was sweet yet refreshing. I gazed at the buildings with wonder as if I was on holiday. As I was about to get on a tram, a man took his headphones out to tell me he really liked my (recently purchased) jersey, and he was a big fan of Canterbury Uglies, before returning to his phone call. A very fun interaction which left me grinning. I purchased the jersey because they are very popular in New Zealand, where mum is from. Dad has some which he now only wears in the garden, no doubt from mum's influences. I have always thought they were very cool, I loved the mismatched stripes, so now I have some of my own! I'm finding a lot of New Zealanders have fond memories of them!

Anyway, I digress! I need to go and make dinner before heading to the gym. I hope you are all doing well!

there's rain outside
these canvas walls
and I can see it all

your freckled skin
your weary eyes
but we are so alive

it's hell out there
that's nothing new
heaven is a thing we do

the dark grey skies
will fade to blue
heaven is a thing we do

Lovely vocal performance. The pads and acoustic guitar is a great combo.

Love the backing vocals on this one.

The vocal concept is great as well. Heaven is a thing we do I can get behind that.
