Disasters, naturally

Well, this has been the first week of the year that I have forgotten to allocate enough time for weeklybeats! This is a very last minute idea that I have put together, but I am pleasantly surprised with how it turned out! The lyrics ran out of steam and the vocals had to be recorded very quietly given the time of night but otherwise, not bad. Another guitar idea in Oyster Bay tuning (DGDABD), and some excessive post-production.

A good week? I think so! Lots of pleasant surprises and keeping busy. Thinking back, I can hardly believe that everything that happened has been this week! A nice social run through the city with friends, found out my washing machine cannot be repaired, watched Marty Supreme in the cinema with other friends, celebrated a 30th, got a haircut, sweltered in the heat, got inspired by Talking Heads all over again, watched my tomatoes ripen, ate a mango, nearly finished reading a whole book, rode my bike. The only thing I didn't get around to was going to the beach!!! Oh, and maybe doing my weeklybeat.

I look for fault lines on your skin
I can feel you trembling
you are an earthquake

there's fire beneath my skin
ashes and embers within
no place to build a home here

you sit there as I burn down
I watch you crumble in a mound
disasters naturally

there's water rushing in
I don't think we'll ever win

Looks like it was a pretty filled out week!

Nice track, I should start to play with some alternative tuning (only have a B baritone tuned and normal E guitars at home)

Really like the harmonized whooooos. Weel played.

Wow I love this. I love the delivery of you are an earthquake. Such a good track man.I also really like the way the reverb moves in this. Very pretty. I would absolutely listen to this again.

love the chord progression and the rhythm of the guitar especially when supporting your vocals. really great song!

hell yeah, so good. really feeling those lyrics too.
congrats on 30th, mango, etc!

this is beautiful and the lyrics are great!

The modulation on the guitar is a nice touch. Makes me think of Guided by Voices a bit. Not a bad at all smile

Sounds like a nice week!

Your vocal harmonies are such a wonderful touch in these songs. Beautiful work. I’m really touched by your songwriting this year!

Indeed it was! It seems I have a habit of packing out my weeks... I thoroughly recommend alt tuning your guitar! It opens up so many new colours.
Thank you!

Thank you! I should clarify, not my 30th, I've still got one more year of my twenties!! (Although it seems no one told my hairline or knees).
