Fossils from the Jungle

By Timothy Lawrence on July 29, 2012 7:40 am

This is another piece from the game soundtrack I'm working on. It will be the main theme, and I've given it the title "The Viable Fossil." Why? Well, it seemed to fit into the concept... I won't try to explain! Anyway, I hope you like it. Note that this is a synthesised version: we will record the piece later this month, and I may put that recording on WeeklyBeats. Of course, a synthesiser can't quite capture the Big Band sound, and this sample doesn't include the lengthy saxophone solo in the middle.

You might try messing with the volume envelopes on those trumpets. A parallel notch filter might help too.

This sounds awesome, really grooves man!

Hahaha, yeah those trumpets sound horrible - but this is the basis for a great track dude! 12 bar blues ftw. To be honest I found the harmonies in the horns a tad.... obvious? Which isn't a bad thing by any means - but there may be some room to make them more interesting. I don't know haha. Anyway sweet track!

great composition but that bass needs to come up.  It swings... very fun.  Looking forward to hearing the real instrumentation.

Get this man a QY70!!  Bopping along to it here.
