77bpm - Happy Humans

By thisissami on February 19, 2018 12:01 am

I asked a roommate of mine for a word for inspiration. He said "humans". I asked him "happy or sad?" - he said "happy". This is what emerged from those prompts!

Something I've been experimenting with this track (and part of the last track) was to have the sub-bass & kicks to be on 2 different octaves. Typically, I have both the kick + sub-bass quite low, and sidechain my bass to the kicks. This time - they're both fully present, but have a bit of distance from each other frequency-wise.

Interesting to see you use bitwig, I bought it a couple of years ago (got version 2) -- I'm not convinced with it at all.

So I end up fall backing to reaper/renoise/reason/ - Would love to see some screenshots or a video from your bitwig creations one day smile

They can be the worst kind sometimes.

Yeah I definitely have a love/hate relationship. I love what they're trying to do, but I hate their implementation. I don't understand how they can still have major bugs 4 years into their life cycle. I've been on their case (straight up sent them a 10 page letter calling them out on all the bullshit) and have some hope that things will shift. I'll be deciding mid-year whether or not I'm sticking with them or going somewhere else.

The things that separate bitwig (internal modulation framework + javascript controller scripting) highly appeals to me and the live set the I'm trying to create, so I reeeeeaaally want them to get their shit together. We'll see...

Is there anything you're particularly interested in seeing when it comes to a vid of a bitwig creation?

What are you referring to there?

A video start to finish of a track creation could be fun.. i usually find i can do everything I need in a reaper sesssion these days but I do miss clip options from time to time.
Bitwig doesnt do rewire either...
I did get very excited and in the hype for its potential as well. And kudos for its linux support too..
