51 Weekly Beats 2024 If I Could

By thgirwnhoj on Yesterday 4:45 pm

For many of my tracks this year, I started out in Ableton Note loading samples into Drum Racks and Samplers. I find that this is a good way to get some initial preparation done while I'm waking up in the morning or on the go during the day. I tried that method this week and then got to the point where it was time to start sketching ideas. I came up with some that I liked with a couple of different beats and a melodic element on each track, so I was careful to upload the song to Ableton Cloud and to make sure I could open it in my DAW. I was not quite ready to flip over to the DAW yet and wanted to continue working in the app, so I shut it all down. The next day, when I went to open the song, I had lost all of my progress. The samples were still loaded, but none of the beats or melodic elements were there any more. I put in a support ticket to Ableton, but as far as I can tell the first version of this track is gone. What you hear is what I came up with on the second try with the same samples.
