week4

By theGuen on January 26, 2020 7:48 pm

This week it's a basement session with my dear old friend Kris on the mic.
Some Glockenspiel in the Refrain and various vsts for the verse.
I spent the most of the week mixing this down.
The mixing process kills me every time... You listen on a other setup or on the phone and notice that your studio headphones betrayed you... this is mix 3 out of 7 wink
Overall i am really happy how this turned out smile

I feel that i need a good rhodes vst... My epianos are all a bit light in the bass... Somebody maybe tried the markus 88 from sampleson? Other suggestions are apreciated too...

Hope you enjoy and have good week!

Dude I wrecked the low end on my submission this week so I know how it goes. At least you persevered - sounds great on my monitors.

Mein Deutsch ist nicht so gut so I can't appreciate the lyrics, but the flow is solid and it sounds like a well-oiled machine all around.

Depending on which headphones I use it has a perfect amount of bass or just a lil too little.
But man, how cool is that rap in German?!?!
I keep telling you: what you do is definite album-material! This should be in shops everywhere!

This is so coool, I absolutely love hearing stuff like this. The beat is perfect and your mate has a great style. I don't understand the words but the cleanness of the diction is great. Wonderful stuff!

I find mixing to be the most challenging aspect of recording, so I feel your pain.  For whatever it's worth this sounds good in my headphones.  I took a few years of Deutsch in school, but it's been a long time and I never got fluent enough where I would have been able to understand the lyrics in this, but your friend does have a good flow and it's indeed great fun to hear a rap in German.

Love this track, that hook in the chorus is excellent. I listened to this track before I read your description and nothing in the mix jumped out as bad for me but I understand how hard it can be to get a satisfying result.

Awesome. Don't understand either, but I like the flow, and sounds of the words a lot. Nice chill beats fits in their nice. Cool hook. I'd live to sample that! Always so much fun to collaborate and share the results!

Good luck that my german is good enough to check out that rap. And let me tell you, it is absolutely awesome. I thought the Stiebers were the kings, but this man is pure dope. The mixing is the burner and don`t buy vst epianos. Buy a real rhodes 88. This song needs to be played on the radio all day long!!!!!

Thanks! i think it's even a bigger compliment when you like the raps without understanding them

Cool thank you! Often when i mix i am satisfied... And next day i think to myself hmm that organ is too loud or that bass ducks the epiano. So in the end i didn't end with last mix i did smile

Thank you Sir!
Stiebers are kings for sure... exactly my time of hiphop... I will pass this to kris smile
A real rhodes would be so nice... i have to send my wife to holidays and make some room in the living room smile
On the other hand she always tells me that she didn't think that a computer is an instrument smile

KRIS ON THE MIC!

killing it - this is terrific!

I also hate mixing, it’s the hardest part of the entire process.  Again great use of the glockenspiel, I also don’t understand the lyrics, but your friend has a great voice and delivery, hopefully you guys can collaborate some more.
