Smoked Rotten Leftovers

By license on January 26, 2020 7:48 pm

On YouTube, I saw a guy cook a beautiful brisket. After 31 days of sous vide, it came out rotten. He then smoked it. Slicing it open unleashed an overwhelming stench of decay. I don't often downvote videos, but I downvoted that for wasting a nice brisket.

Fortunately, you can't smell this.

Phew, I gave this a listen in the car and I had no idea how much I'd overdone the bass. Sorry... I need to start giving my mixes the headphone test.

thought it was intentional, it's pretty cool in my opinion

Thank you! Yeah maybe it's just my car, it's pretty tiny lol

the bass is güd, thought that was on purpose!

Sounds pretty beefy for sure, still good though.

Hey after reading comments about the bass I downloaded the file to analyze it(didn't hear any bass issues in my shitty headphones) and ended up remastering it to my taste. Here is it - https://clyp.it/virj4hpe nothing special, just decided to share it after spending couple hours on tweaking it and trying different adjustments, maybe you'll like my version. Just a little mastering/eqing practice, trying to do it more, as it's one of my weakest sides.

It's also like because of my idea to make a submission sometime in the future made up of samples of other people's submissions which are licensed under CC0. Hope you don't mind if I use one of yours smile

Awesome, I'm glad it's not unlistenable.

Nice! Yeah, I think this is an improvement! Thanks for doing this. I'm gonna study your mastering here too. For the time being, I dusted off my Subpac to compensate for my Rokits' utter lack of bass, lol.

I don't mind at all! I guess I should probably stop doing CC0 eventually in case I want to get some of these on bandcamp or some streaming service someday. But yeah, sampling is in my bones and I heartily encourage to you sample my stuff if you hear something cool in it. Just let me know because I'm eager to hear how you flip it.

Yeah I woulda thunk it was intentional, but I hear what you mean. Like the crunchy crunch happening here. Boom boom.

I saw your comment about the bass issue after already listening to most of the track.  I thought is sounded really cool. A bit intentionally overdriven but gave a nice edge. Solid track!

You can always edit track and change from CC0 cant you? Whats the problem (I'm using CC0 for all mine so very curious)

Oh and nice tune! smile

Thank you!! Yeah maybe it was just an initial shock thing... or I just need to turn down the volume when I listen in the car smile

You know, for all I know, it doesn't even matter. I just warmed up a lot to open source and GPL3-type licenses over the last year, so I appreciate just blowing the doors wide open. It just occurred to me that it might be a problem for streaming services, but it might not even be a thing.

Thank you smile

smile That story for the title is great...
I am on quite bassy headphones right now... i love the bass it's tasty a bit driven but kind of clean.
But i guess it would blow my car speakers wink
A friend of mine has one of these jbl bluetooth rolls... these are nice to check if the bass is overdone...

This track is soo cool listening the third time now smile

Thank you so much for the kind words and the tip on the JBL.
I'm glad the "a bit driven but kind of clean" thing came through. The tape sample I started with was really thrashed, and I thought it would be interesting to put some cleaner sounds on top of it... but in the end I gave it another slight crunch treatment anyway. Can't help myself!
