Final Showdown

By theGuen on May 27, 2018 8:30 pm

This week was an unusually planfull week for me.
First i figured out some chords... all minor. Don't know the major chords never sound right for me...
Next i worked on the melody, which i wanted to play on the mandoline, so it's rather simple. Took me nearly the complete week to record it. It still could be played more nicely... But its all i clould do by now. I pimped it a bit with chorus.
As it was not good enough to be played solo i added the flute which is a single note played on a sampler.
Finally i recorded the bass and the guitar chords.
Piano and organ are some vst plugins.

I hope you enjoy...
Have a nice week!!!

I like the vibe on this one.  The simple mandolin melody works well and there are a lot of other elements going on that provide plenty of sonic interest.

Excellent beat. Nice instrumentation with mandoline, Schweineorgel and flute.

I love it, a wonderful blend of instrument choices.

Great vibe, the mandolin part is crazy good heart

Bass and drum add a powerful level of support. Interesting instrumental choices.

Whatever chords work for you, make them work for you.

I can make major and minor work really well together, but aug is just not doing it for me.  Maybe you'll have a better run with it.

When those drums hit, that’s a great moment, had to rewind, first thing that came in my mind is Adrian Younge’s “12 reasons to die”, hip hop with the live band feel

Oh man, the mandolin is so delicate and the drums are so powerful.  This is definitely the "Final Showdown"!  That's my submission as a track title wink

really nice juxtapositions!!!!  fav'd  smile

Really? Thanks for mentioning this record wink one of my favs. I think the steady bass is inspired by some track on this record. I hope i come up with some more of this kind...

Thank you very much!

This is some cool Kung Fu, Kwai Chang Caine shit going on here. Love the flute sound gainst the banging drums. Organ gives so much texture. Lots of instrumentation, but also so much space for everything to breathe. Very well done and disciplined.

Excellent boom bap beat with a bit of Adrian Younge feels for me smile  *nods head* to the bass and mandolin unravel at the end.

Good and unusual choice of instrumentation. And a great groove. Well done!

Thanks man! Indeed i was tempted to mess up the middle part with a lot of samples... wink

Thanks a lot!

i try to use organs fairly regularly and getting them to fit is not easy, but you nailed it here. also the drums are great, kinda dirty and in your face with that sloshy hi hat. those very slight pauses really add a lot to the punch too
