Driving home from California

I'm in California right now, my gran passed a few months ago, and I'm down here helping pack things up, and I'm absconding with her amazing mid century dresser. It's been an extremely difficult last few days, but I slept in her bed while I was here because it was the only bed available. I was apprehensive to the idea at first, but after a few days, I'm feeling more connected to her. I'm the self appointed family archivist, so I've been gathering all the random boxes of photos, and family photos on the walls. I found a letter her father wrote to her in 1948 about her trip back home to North Dakota for the first time since the war. I found a photo of my 17 year old grandpa the day he was shipping out. They met at a dance while his ship was docked in Seattle for repair after it was hit by a torpedo. I found a picture of her at a different dance, not with my grandpa, spicy, hahaha. Some really amazing family story telling going on.

I started working on this beat earlier in the week before I flew down here from Portland, and spent some time on Friday getting it into a place where I felt it was worth sharing. I think ideally I'd have a more pronounced B part, but for now I'm happy with the results.
