Yet another generative-inspired piece. This time I tried to structure it more like a regular song.

Listen on Soundcloud: https://soundcloud.com/trent-hawkins/20200120a

I like how punchy and percussive the sound design is. This really builds nicely, it feels like a song for being high up in the atmosphere.

oh man, I totally missed your trance-like compositions!  nice to see you again smile  I'll have to catch up on your previous weeks

What manner of structure plan did you use for this?

This is slick - nice, clean sound, good groove...

I tried to stick with a "formula" where I start the track building up and adding elements every X bars, using my gut feeling to keep it interesting. Then after I got to the 1st solo part, I tried to make a breakdown which gradually builds back up, then 2nd solo and start to fade things out every X bars. It's very abstract and vague, but it's kind of a camel with two humps - a smooth gradual start until a "main verse", then breakdown, a smooth gradual rebuild into "2nd verse", then ride the feeling for a while and then smooth gradual fade out. I hope this makes sense smile

Thanks! Glad you liked it. Trying to get better at this groove thing. smile

Gotcha, so nothing like a regular structure. I'm not hearing the second verse though.

It's a gross simplification, but I think that "verse" is basically when the bass drum is playing.
