Lost Memories

I used Reason DAW to make this track, and started it while travelling to and from work on the train. For some reason the train seems to be the best place for me to get started with ideas..maybe it's being trapped where distractions can't get to me, and the constant motion of the world shooting by the window. As I played around with weird bassline ideas, the main riff of the song started to form and gave me feelings of faded photos flickering in my memory, fond but fleeting. We're propelled forever forward, and the further we look back the more hazy and crinkly the past appears, but at least there's still emotional threads tying us to all we lived through.

I used the Mimic sampler in Reason for all the instruments, and bounced a lot of ideas to audio then manually chopped them up. I really like working this way, to chance upon new sounds from old, and explore interesting textures from mangled sounds.

That way you play with the key changes felt so cool! 0:39 especially hit. I think you did an incredible job of conveying that nostalgic feeling with a sense of optimism and progress.

really opens up as it approaches the 1 minute mark, nice work

This is very pleasant

This is so good! I missed this track. Really cool! I have been using a similar methodology in chopping up tracks and then putting them back together.
