Garage Afterparty

Trying to get my process to be a little more streamlined and self-contained, this is my first piece composed in Cubasis 3 on the iPad, using inter-app audio and some AUv3 instruments. I kinda like the process, and it seems to work pretty well, aside from one instrument that occasionally crashes in the background, even on a new iPad with a decent amount of RAM. Anyway, I want to concentrate on getting proficient at one DAW for a while, so I can work on really improving the music itself, and not so much fiddling with the process, which is a real issue for my ADHD brain, which wants to fiddle with the process. I think I still need a real mini keyboard controller to throw in my bag (the on-screen keyboard is a little too touchy), but I think I’m almost happy with it.

The song is a little samey, throughout (it definitely needs a better bridge), but I was pressed for time on Sunday morning, because we’ve got tickets to go to the Skirball museum this afternoon.

It's peppy and helped getting me going this morning. Process is important--keep it up. Amazed that you did this w/on-screen keyboard+editing. As far as keys, I have an xkey air I got when they were still on kickstarter years ago. A little pricey, but really great for portability, and built-in bluetooth for iPad connection.

I loved the chord progression and the detuned pad smile

Thanks! I'm glad it helped. I picked up a used Akai MPK Mini this week, just so I could have something to work with when I'm not at home. The keyboard is a little mush, but it helps getting the ideas from brain to computer.
