Buzz Lightyear Moment

By SteveSkiano on February 3, 2024 9:55 pm

I decided to explore making a rap song. It’s autobiographical. I thought about switching the first two verses to make the more serious one come second, but decided to keep it chronological. I found out… rap is hard. Haha. It was fun though.

Men, it sounds great! I wouldn't say it's the first time you've sung a rap smile

The slant rhyme of "skills" and "selves" was nicely executed. The "buzz lightyear moment" hook in the chorus with the delay at the end is killer, and the second verse really slams hard when it comes in. The triplets where you're talking about anatomy are super dope. Verse 2 changed up enough from one to really give it some added interest, and I think the ordering of the verses is good for the narrative arc. To me the first verse feels very earnest, and in the second verse a little bit of disillusionment and cynicism comes through with the comical lyrics.

Great job on the arrangement. Adding harmonies and instrumentation with the double chorus at the end was perfect for this song (and let's be honest, every song)

I really enjoyed this! The beat is really good and the chorus melody is really catchy. I like the use of the plastic toy ranger imagery. It was really cool to hear you tell your story in this way. From the description it sounds like this might have been something new for you and I think you did a really great job with it! You should try another rap song sometime.

It definitely is hard and you nailed it! Singing part is silly tho haha. The pure honesty tho! Vulnerable, self-aware and powerful piece! Props for making, thanks for sharing!

Oh hell yeah!!! I found someone else starting their rap journey, too!!! High five! smile
Damn, man, your flow is VERY fun! And you also did a wonderful job with the lyrics here. Great to hear the humble & vulnerable topics you touch on here. They paint a very nice picture.
Super duper well done, dude. And yeah, I also found out that rap is quite hard, haahahah... Cheers!

Haha rad, really great personal exploration of rap! I like the choice of style for the backing track and the effects you use on your voice during the chorus. Doesn't sound like your first time rapping either so if it is, you have good flow and style.

Those lyrics are real and heartfelt man, I'm feelin it.  I don't get into a lot of rap that is all braggadocio, but this is the stuff I love.  The realness.  Way to put your heart out there.

That chorus slaps though.

This was so good, incredible job with the solid beat, engaging lyrics and very good execution of the lyrics, fantastic story and flow and a chorus with a catchy hook, how did you do this all in one week?  The scantron line made me laugh, brought back memories of that same fear.
