Because It's Bad!

Who really knows where the line between trash and smash is?

Created a weird wacky pseudo granulator in Max MSP, tried and failed to port it to M4L, then flailed around to create a little mini timed orchestrator and a little ditty to tithe me over while I figure out why buffer~ in an abstraction doesn't do buffer~ shenanigans inside M4L...

But in the meantime, I created a lovely Max monstrosity I will screenshot and share at some point. Glad to be back in patch land after a decade heart

Sounds like a car crash at a jazz club. I love it! Great track!

sounds like the whole rehearsal in a minute! kinda crazy u can really get a sense of the sound of a piece even when it's scrambled with granular.

This is what my dreams play when I'm at a jazz club - half heard but slippery music and voices what won't let me pin 'em down

This works really well, throughout, this is a smash. Really love the vocal elements which ground the whole thing as pitches devolve into the granular cloud of unpredictable rhythm. Very pleased with how well it commands my attention, making it seem effortless (which is a big deal). Stoked you’re doing WB, you can try reusing the same patch for other stuff, curious how far it can go and in what sidequests. smile

Other folks mentioning dreamlike aspects and evocation of jazz clubs / car crashes are way on point too.

Sometimes with my ADHD I'll get overstimulated and my thoughts will race like crazy and it feels a lot like this, lol. Really interesting idea!

Relistened to it again in the context of the rest of the work this year. If you collect work into a record, will be a wild one, and thematic consistency is really nice. Excited to see what’s next. smile
