Week-07 UserGuidePDF

By Stefano D'Alessio on February 16, 2014 7:57 pm

UserGuidePDF is a track composed of really singular sound, in fact it is entirely made of audio created by the translation of a PDF file in to sound.
The PDF has 919 pages, it contains text, images and web links. The translation of the PDF in to audio, generated a relatively long and rich sound file, this file has then been cut and layered creating the piece.
The track has been entirely created in two days (14-15 February 2014).
PDF to audio conversion made in Audacity, sound processing and composition made in Logic.

hmmm i really liked this one. Made me jump out of my seat infact. Sounds are visceral and jump out. And really works well when compared to the quiet parts.

Well that worked pretty bloody well!

Very interesting sound generating method. Even more interesting results!

Can you explain how you did this conversion? I'd like to try this. Did you just open the pdf with audacity and listen to the errors?

It is a trick that a friend of mine showed me... actually it would be nice if i mention him: Enrico Zago (http://enricozago.hotglue.me)
from audacity you open the file as RAW then there are some settings to try out...
for the rest i selected certain parts and composed them...
