strawberries, ice cream and a gentle breeze - W14

By SQF on April 5, 2026 10:52 pm

It was a busy week and music wasn't as much of a priority as it has been for the first 13 weeks.
HOWEVER...

I really had no potential projects going and time running out. I got to playin' around on the m8, chopping up a bunch of samples from my own catalog of songs. I believe most of them are sub37 samples slowed.

I had a massive head start using drum samples from https://www.vvundertone.com/ not sponsored, a fan of his youtube channel and the work he puts into his samples.

Some may call this speed-trash. I almost skipped this week and maybe that lessened the pressure and gave me the freedom to create.

Feels good to have a track for the week and I'm really happy with how it turned out! Also happy I can move along and not obsess over it like I do so many other tracks.

I was trying to decided on a name while eating strawberries and ice cream in the sunshine, and now I can recall that moment when I listen back smile I'm not sure thats the vibe of the song, open to alternate namings based on your interpretation. aka Too much ride cymbal

Looking forward to hearing everyones tracks!!

The bass sounds huge and there's a cool propulsive quality to it.  There's also something uplifting.  I'm happy to imagine strawberries and ice cream while listening.

I'm envisioning a sort of chase camera scene following a bumblebee buzzing through a crowded park. maybe in the psychedelic color shifted perspective of the bees, and slowed down a bit because of course the little guys move so dang fast. I can tell you that Motivational WeeklyBeats Guy thinks this is speedtreasure and quite the vibe! Glad you made cool music this week.

Ooof yais love that bass and airy gritty pad that follows it.  Slick downtempo feels from the drums too.  The pad returning again at 1:35 sounds so good.  Glad you were able to release this! \m/ speedtreasure is a good term for this!

I 100% feel you on this. I've had this exact same feeling a few of these weeks. That said, I haven't been able to use said freedom to really create all that much weirdness - I've mostly used it to create small simpler tunes that I know aren't super developed or strong but still have fun elements to them that I really enjoy. And being okay with thah imperfection.

Anyways, enough about process! The song here was fun! It had a bit of a dark tone to it. Definitely could pick up on some elements that make my ears go "ah, yeah that's SQF". I'm intrigued how it feels kinda dark but also like, positive. Like this is playing along while the main character of the movie is trudging along the dark gloomy city in an internal monologue, oscillating between worried and hopeful. Super unique feeling!

Strawberries, ice cream and a breeze sounds good to me.

It was a fun listen, happy you took a bit of time to crank this one.

Strawberries, ice cream AND a gentle breeze? 😃

Now all we need’s a groovy springtime SQF tune to set the mood-

Wait, here it is. Alrighty, we’re good to go!

Yeah don't over do it, just chill, nice

speedtreasure, hell yes! love that change @ 40 secs in.
these dudes love it too:

What a vibe this track has, and quite a big sound. Head bopping slowly while working, that was nice!

Nothing wrong with sampling drums, these are some fantastic sounding drums, I like the ride as is.  I like the idea of chopping up samples you made on other equipment, will definitely give that a go myself, some great sections you have created from those samples.  This has a great laid back feel, title fits it just fine.

fantastic groove, really love this!!

Great vibe, love the drums. This flows. A gentile breeze. Sometimes the limited time can work out!

this is delightful!
