orange trees W50

The song starts out with some percussion samples that continue throughout the song.
I layered a 2 different sample tracks along with some kick/snare/high-hat.

I came up with the base groove that starts out the track and it evolved from there.
I made all the instruments from scratch going for sounds that felt like they fit the vibe.

Now the hard part, mix/mastering.

So, this was the most challenging mastering I’ve done.
I really had to dig deep into my skills I’ve developed over the past year and EQ each track so it all sat nicely together.
It just felt like there was a lot of sonic content all fighting for the same space and upon first listen it just didn’t sound like the m8 version after exporting to stems.
I did some EQ in the m8 on individual instruments but I’m not sure that made it to the stems, need to research that.

At times the track feels a little busy but overall I’m pleased with the outcome and the decisions I made along the way.
It’s always nice when you feel yourself dancing to your own music smile

Enjoy!

This is very good (my partner just asked for a link).  It's a great vibe and arrangement, and it sounds like your track EQ skills have really paid off—the mix is super clean!

wow thanks!! Means a lot coming from the incredible ineff!

I feel like the percussion really makes the song groove and the sound design overal is pretty good.

The mix sounds good although a bit too saturated for my taste. Other than that, good frequency balance and good spacing in the stereo field.

Great track!

Yeah this groove is really nice. Very catchy from here.

I too am trying to get my mind around eq and I find distortion particularly hard to balance nicely. It just seems to fill the whole spectrum. Which sucks cause I love distorting my instruments and then it's hard to mix them all.

That said, I think you did a great job here and it felt like everything had its place. Nice work!

Thanks! I had to dip certain frequencies of one instrument and raise on another so I could make room for everything. Good luck!

Super energized grooving drums from start to finish.  Love how some of the individual percussion hits sound.  A bit on the metallic side but hits so nicely thru the mix.  Well done!

i'm super into that percussive groove you built up, and how it locks in with the smoothe & funky bass line. so danceable!

The percussion writes a groove cheque that the bass & synths can absolutely cash. This track doesn't invite you to move, it demands you move.

It sounds dense, but in a good way to my ears.  Love the groove and the energy.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOO booooooooy, I'm making some SERIOUS stank face as I dance in my chair to this!!! This kicks ASS!!!!

Sorry, I gotta double comment: THE STANK FACE KEEPS GOIN' 'CAUSE THE DANK TUNES JUST KEEP FLOWIN'!!! Hahahahahaha... Damn, this is so good...

Love the sound design (as always), the sizzle on the lead sound is awesome.  And that bass... ~( °٢° )~

Really interesting sounds you crafted on this one, that opening percussion has such a nice flow, I didn’t find this busy at all, everything had its place.  I don’t know anything about mixing on the M8, but everything sounds good and well balanced to my ears.

All that work definitely paid off
