only memories W41

A bit of a continuation of some ideas from last week.
The beginning parts were similar samples or some ideas that didn't quite fit.

I wanted to do a larger rap but it wasn't flowing but maybe cathartic on the writing side of things.
The only thing that made it in was a spoken word intro.

The topic of this weeks song is related to a friend of mine that died suddenly last week.
Still in a bit of shock. He was 43.

I kind of reflected my shock in the song structure.
Around when I do the spoken word part I let all the samples play out kind of chaotic.
The synth lead that comes in at 1:25 is a repurposed song sample from a previous WB and the timing is slightly off but it works in kind of an odd rushed feeling kind of way.
I needed something in the middle to break things up so I used some more repurposed WB sub 37 samples I had.
That part in particular feels like an unexpected moment that in the grand scheme of life is short.
The song picks right back up after that section kind of like how life presses on and we just have to keep going.

It's been welcomed to pour some creative energy into a moment in life that doesn't make sense and isn't fair.
Thanks for coming along for the ride!

Cheers to week 41!

Sorry to hear about your friend 😔

Great way to channel and process the feels. Dig it

Sorry for your loss.  43 is much too young to go.  This track is a nice tribute to him though.  The repurposed samples work really well I think.  I wouldn't have guessed they weren't intended for this all along.

Instant slick beat and really like those padded chord progression.  The dark bassline that comes in is extra thiiiick too.  Hard not to tap along with the groovin hats of this.  Oooh those harpsichordish leads are super sweet too.  Sorry for your loss this was a positive and nice tribute to your friend.
