Happy week 17!

m8 track, haven't felt inspired to sit at a desk lately to make music, and as you all know, I love the m8.

I started out crawling my sample libraries and ended up in my own project stems picking random tracks, chopping them different ways to see if anything stuck. You may recognize pieces parts from 2024 WB, lots of sub37 samples.

Once things started to fall into place I couldn't put it down!

This statement comes with a healthy does of recency bias but this is one of my favorites of the year.
The beat is groovin and the arrangement takes some nice turns.
Overall this one left me with a reflective kind of feeling. Artemis is still fresh in my mind so I could imagine looking back at earth from the moon with this playing in my headphones.

Mixed/eq'd direct in the m8, some added compression level setting in garageband

I hope you enjoy listening to it as much as I enjoyed making it.
Thanks for stopping by!

shout out to M8 forever!

and the sub37 sounding great! Love the idea of repurposing old stems for new jams, especially if they can turn out this good sounding! This track is great!

Artemis seems to have provided some great inspiration for a lot of tracks.  It was refreshing to have something aspirational and awe inspiring in the news cycle for once.  Some excellent self sampling, and I can definitely imagine jamming this in lunar orbit.

Love the drum groove from the start.  The section at 1:08 sounds so good with those warm pads.  Excellent change up with the beat midway too.  Feeling the Artemis vibes in the main theme.  \m/

Love the laid back groove, you got it sounding like a drummer just jamming out for a bit. I also like how the higher synths subtlety reframe the harmony of the bassline. Totally getting the positive space vibes, cool how you reworked old sounds into a new coherent piece. Never felt like anything was out of place. Cool track!

If I may give out a mixing tip: try to lower the release on the M8 mixbus limiter. It's set pretty high by default, and turning it down can make the mix cleaner and punchier. At least, if that's what you're going for hehe.

im also having that kind of moments that i dont feel much of an inspiration , but let me tell you- this is amazing !! i love the distortion sounds really controlled !!! and even better thats all you made samples!!! well done !!! looking forward to the next week

Very cool, funky composition. I got lost in the moment listening to this. Sampling from your own work is a powerful technique.

very cool groove - so very good. I think ive said it before to you but I think your sample based stuff is highly inspiring. Ive just never quite gotten to experiment with it.

Give me those kick and snares!!! So punchy.

Very cool synth lines over this, it probably gets a bit messy at some point, but I like messy!

Love "flams" snares later on.

And yeah, having lots of fun listening to this.

I really appreciate how this one is a slow cooking banger. Super cool grooves and funk to it in general, but the mor e melodic pieces also take it to a place of hooefulness and inspiration. Super cool, dude well done! I don't think itsnrecency bias - I think you just made a really dope track! Hahahaha..

ahem...

This is so funky and hypnotizing! It made me nostalgic for littlegptracker (M8 predecessor), physics, and some other stuff from my past. smile Those sample chops are really dope too. All those sounds really came together and that's such a good feeling!
