Scrutiny (WB39)

Put this one together as a bit of automatic song writing. I tried not to think too much and just go with whatever my first instinct was. Turned out that was a lot of guitars and some vocals with some weird lyrics!

Wrote the guitar riff first on the acoustic but recorded first with the electric. I put down a couple dummy drum tracks in Ableton then took two takes of both electric and acoustic. I chopped and stacked and panned them against one another. Chopped out any sloppy bits and copy pastaed over it. Solidified drum part next then recorded bass in a single take! Recorded main vox in a single take and background vox in one more! Compressors, eq, reverb, delay, limiters, saturator and more limiters! Total work time about 4 and a half hours on a Sunday afternoon!

Lyrics:

Be one or the other
Be a friend or a bother
What difference can we alter?
Choose if you get the chance

And over again
Be sincere or pretend
Hit delete or press send
Choose if you get the chance

reminds me of REO Speedwagon. a very nice song with a lot potential.

Sometimes you just gotta trust your gut, it's taking you to the right places with this one.

Great song with impressive studio work (single passes very impressive).

Thanks! I hadn't thought of that but it does sound like them a bit!
