Heart on my Sleeve (WB04)

By spry on January 27, 2022 3:50 am

Pulled another half baked song out of the note recorder on my phone to finish for this week. Gotta love a love song with an escape clause wink

I've been experimenting with tuning up my classical guitar and putting a capo on it to get a chimey sort of sound. Still struggling with the whole recording and mixing acoustic instruments and voice. This time around I was fighting against the noise floor on the vocal track so I ended up throwing a gate on it out of frustration. I need to find a better way to remove static from tracks!

Lyrics:

I've been lost a long time
And if you lead me back home, I'll follow you
And it seems like a crime
To let our future be forgotten mistakenly

Still I wonder if it's real
Am I making a big deal out of nothing?

I've been waiting all night
Just to finally say what you mean to me
And I hope its alright
That I'm wearing my heart out on my shirt sleeve

Kiss me right on the mouth!
Is it a dream that we lie here falling asleep?
I'll see whatever you are
And its filling my heart with a vision
Of what we could be

I've been lost a long time
And if you lead me back home
I will follow you
And I hope it alright that
I'm leaving my heart out here in full view

I've been lost a long time
And if you call me back home I would run to you

Maybe you can embrace the static a bit, give it a bit of WB authenticity

you're right of course! I love to strive for perfection but its better to get it done. That was my thinking just gating it and moving on. Turns out I had my cardiod mic pointed in the opposite direction *biiiig facepalm* so hopefully I can do better next time!

you are so good - sorry i missed this.  the ending line and delivery is so soul crushing.
