Springtime Celebration

By Sorkfot on April 3, 2022 11:14 pm

This tune is in celebration of many things, but I'm especially glad that I've come this far producing 13 tunes this year. I've been practicing classical guitar this last week, so I'm influenced by latin american music, harp arpeggios and guitar arrangement in general. Oh, and I got 2 new mics! Maybe you can hear a difference? The Casio DM-100 is my favourite. It's been on all my tracks this year. In this tune you can hear it with almost no processing.

Casio MT-65 drums
Casio DM-100 Flute and magic pads
Nylon and steel string guitars
Precision bass
Alesis D4 for percussion

Reaper only production. Steel string guitar in one take smile All mistakes are intentional, as Chet Atkins said.

Beautiful beyond words!

Lovely! Fantastic guitar playing and nailed the spring vibe heart

Thanks, kind people!

oh my gosh i wish i could take guitar lessons from you, you are so good!  can you recommend a classical guitar to me?  i don't know how much variation there is compared to steel string electrics.

where can i buy your albums?

Thanks again, good sir! smile

I'm probably not the right guy to ask for classical tips, as I'm mostly an electric player. I teach the electric guitar and I took classical lessons for a year when I was studying the electric guitar.

I had a very friendly but demanding teacher, something I wish everyone would have at some point in their life. So find yourself a friendly but demanding teacher that understands your goals and needs. smile

To convey the tips of my teachers, I would advise you to find a good medium priced acoustic (that's $0-$1500) and get good fresh strings. Any good medium or light tension string is a good start. Spend a lot of time with your guitar and get the most out of it. You're a guitar player, so you know what it feels like to try out a guitar and fall in love. Ususally that gut feeling or love for the instrument will be your best guide. Never get the next-best thing!

The angle of your fingers and/or nails in relation to the guitar, and the playing position makes more of a difference than what any fancy tonewood in any guitar will do. But if you can afford it, a handbuilt, luthier built guitar with good wood is always a wonderful thing.

Sometimes old guitars from the 70's and 80's are very affordable and usually made with proper wood. I don't know the brands, but they're usually quite similar. Cedar/Rosewood makes for a brighter sound. Spruce/Mahogany makes a more mellow and bassy tone. I have Spruce/Rosewood in my Almansa 457 and it's a very bassy, almost boomy instrument. Still love it though! An instrument in itself can be a companion and a teacher; it tells you when you suck and when you do good. smile

As for albums, I don't have any, but if you keep asking for it I'll make one after this year. smile

It's 2:30 in the morning and I should be in bed.  But instead, I'm hitting the ⏮️ button to listen again… again.

Absolutely marvelous.  I would have been disappointed you didn't have albums, but I can still download the track here.

Not sure I notice the quality difference, but man, this sounds so chill

really pretty texture, certainly no "mistakes" that i could notice.

it's really fun to hear a bit of the thoughts behind tracks, especially on styles/instruments that i don't think i could ever pull off myself but i dig listening to

amazing! really fun harmonies and that guitar figure on the 3rd minor chord in the theme gives me shivers! lovely playing that reminds me of my fav jazz guitarists like scofield and pat metheny when u do the synth stuff, but I also love that you do it on top of drum machine style beats and kinda make the beats sing!!! really cool combination. thanks for the awesome tunes!!! ♥
