Mr. Hedgehog

I made this quick tune on sunday after a long week.

Alesis D4 drums
Behringer Model D lead and bass
Casio DM-100, flute and choir pad
Precision bass
Electric Guitar

Made with Renoise and Reaper

A true gem from the opening cowbell pattern until the bass ending the song on its own. I would highlight elements, but it’s all just so good.

Great selection of instruments and chill vibe while still getting a little crazy in the mid bridge.  Nice bass work!

Look at him go. Really like the chill vibe.

loving the groove

super cool melodies!

Love this dub, what a killer groove / remarkable bass work. The fast sections are killer.

Comment about the mix: I find myself distracted whenever a frequently occurring hat sound (e.g. drum machines, percussive something) is panned too far off-center: I think wider soundstage benefits live drums a fair amount, but I find something really distracting about simple / repetitively relentless sounds being off-center. On headphones, I found the hat mixed to the left to be too left. That's not really the interesting part. The interesting part is that I've been listening to your music for over an hour now, hearing 13 tracks (at least twice) and this is the first comment I can make about one thing I would dare suggest change. I hope this speaks louder than praise, heart emojis, etc.

Love your work. (Please make an album.)

Thanks for all the comments! Really fun to read smile

Thanks for the feedback and the analysis of the panning issue. I found it very helpful. I had never thought of panning vs. repetition but it really makes a lot of sense. The panning decision here was made by the drum machine preset. That's no excuse of course. In the future, I will definately keep my ears open and be a little more deliberate (sometimes - hehe, can't promise anything). I respect your mixing skills and I am thankful for your suggestion here.
