Trip Hop (OPL2)

By Snyderman on January 28, 2024 11:25 pm

My experiment this week is putting together some kind of Trip Hop beat using the OPL2 chip on Furnace.

Notes and lessons learned:
- Only really worked on it today, so lost out on my dedicated patch design time. Something I did practice with was note delay/swing.
- Some pretty obvious influence from Massive Attack and a lesser known but great album called Lovebeat by Yoshinori Sunahara
- Some slight differences between OPL1 and OPL2 create some unusual patch navigation challenges, even though it's all still 2-OP

Pretty! I love the drumbeat and the added swing is a nice touch.

Smooth.

Still pretty dang good for a single day! Digging the slightly off beat, the beauty of triphop.

Furnace seems cool

this is some solid Chip-Trip™

love the unexpected turns of the lead melody line.  might like the background arp a little louder?  nice job!

These are some great sounds though.
