Mario Painting (3x SNES)

By Snyderman on May 23, 2024 6:43 am

Had a lot of fun with this one! I loaded up 3 SNES patch banks full of samples from Mario Paint and went 'hog wild'. It's a very goofy track but I spent a good amount of time trying to get it sounding just right.

The entire process was as follows:
- Rip samples
- Prepare samples for use (and load them in so they fit the sample banks)
- Make instruments out of those samples, including a few variants (like the 'flute' which is the kalimba / mbira with a smoother attack)
- Start laying down the tracks, adding in unused square channels for visual separation across the 3 SNES
- Do 3 drafts including a final pass with some panning applied

Was a lot of fun and hope you enjoy listening to this silliness.
