Traveling through the mountains (404)

By shaike on April 27, 2024 10:03 pm

This week I tried really getting into using the tx6. Routed the 404 into the tx6 and the. Back into the 404 to get its fx, then recorded on the tx6. Charvelle for guitar, rickenbacker for bass, both were powered by Darkglass e500 (my fave amp ever).

I was so tired this week I almost skipped. Glad I didn’t. Love yall.

Amazing sound! Each sound is so crunchy and delightful. Love to hear it.
Esp the melody synth and the high saturated bell chimes thing.
Would love to hear a version with a bit more groove, but I also dig this laid back slightly drunk one.

This made my day! Thank you! I wasn’t happy with how this one sounded, but your comment makes me want to put more work into this idea. It doesn’t feel complete imo

You bet! I mean there’s always more sections you could add or endless polish to make it feel more complete. But there’s also the snapshot in time of who you were when you made this, and what this track evokes in other ppl, that if you change, it will just be a different thing. Not better or worse.

I liked hearing it again. To dig deeper into what I think works so well is the sheer confidence of the main melodic synth and its chimey bell thingy companion when they come in over the mellow background. Cause the chimes are pretty loud and kinda steal the show a bit at first - WHICH IS GREAT - chimes and main synth make a good contrast, leave plenty of space and have a lot of expression.

I imagine that kind of abstract thinking can also be applied to the rhythm to make it even more compelling, in my view. Like some contrasting elements that really say something confidently, while leaving space and supporting other elements. I feel the snare rolls do that well. But maybe the kick drum is a bit unsure of its timing or role here. The bassline is great, cause it sets a stage for the other instruments. The kick sets the stage too but also sits a bit in between and uncomfortably on time sometimes… idk. Something about it is unsettling, could be used more purposefully.

I feel I’m digging a bit too deep into this one but hope this is interesting for you too. I find it fascinating to try and explain why I like something big_smile not sure it makes sense

I second horatiuromantic―the sound quality is great and the vibe is cool af.  Dope beat, too (love the dampened finality of that kick).  Looking forward to more. cool

Thank yall for your input!! Per your first statement, that’s an amazing way to look at it! I love the idea of kind of archiving my feelings and thoughts!
I really appreciate the thought put into the comment, it makes me want to give this song more attention! Thank you also Ineff for your kind words. I’ve enjoyed your stuff so far. I’ve learned a few things from you in the discord actually! smile
