The Mechanism

I've been playing Guild Wars 2 since 2017. Started it back in the day together with my partner, as a way to game and spend time together, explore a new world together. So much in this game reminds me of this person, so many things we did, but also so many things we were planning to do. One of the things we wanted to do together was to build a certain legendary weapon.
However, we broke up last year. I couldn't find back into the game for months. So many memories. And each came with so much pain. I couldn't play, I couldn't have fun.
This week, a friend's interest in playing the game with me brought me back into its world, and apparently I've healed enough to enjoy it once again. And I finished the legendary we'd been working on. Alone. It was a sad moment, but also a moment of closure, and also of triumph in a way. Triumph over the long and complicated crafting process, but also over the pain and grief.
I'm dedicating this song to the people at ArenaNet, who created the fantasy world of Guild Wars with its deep lore and wholesome community.
I plan to recreate this song at some point, fully fleshed out, and with a real electric guitar playing instead of a synth. Therefore this release is not called Astralaria, like the weapon I've crafted, but The Mechanism, which is the incomplete, raw, precursor weapon to Astralaria.
Not sure whether this song is too boring for people, but this week I don't really care; I've made this for myself. To close a chapter, and to open another.
Edit: Totally forgot to mention the relation the music has to GW2. This track is heavily inspired by Rata Novus, one of my favorite pieces of music from the game.
