Patria, part 2

By scy on September 1, 2024 11:02 pm

Today, the German states of Saxony and Thuringia have elected new parliaments. The far-right AfD has received over 30 % of the votes in both states, the Russophilic, Eurosceptic "left"-wing nationalist BSW over 10 %.

A result like that was to be expected. Germany has kept moving to the right for years now, as people struggle with climate change and the polycrisis.

"Patria, part 2" tries to capture my emotions toward all of this into a track. It's a dark and broody, somewhat dissonant electronic track that's using a few notes from the German national anthem, but converted to a minor key, as one of its themes.

Made on the Deluge in 6 hours or something. I like the result, but the onboard effects on the Deluge feel really limited by now. Let's see what I'll do about that.

This is sooo great. The song. Not the polycrisis. I feel your angst and also wonder where it's all going to land. Keep making music my friend! Good luck.

Really awesome track, I think you really did a great job capturing a sense of rising anxsitiy and tension.  Sounds really great for a full Deluge track.  I feel you on the Deluges onboard effects feeling limiting, though the Community Firmware really did freshen things up quite a lot with the granular effects, and the newest release has a MUCH better reverb in it (poached from Mutable Instruments)... but, yeah, still leaves a lot to be desired.
