Optimism

Lots going on here, not the least of which is the fact that apparently the export didn't exactly go great when I converted my bounced WAV to MP3 (Might notice some aliasing, etc?)

I used my modular for the first time on a Weekly Beats this year! Analog synths, digital reverb, all that jazz. I also didn't use a metronome? So this thing will be sorta free form and ungroovable. Grooveless. Lacking the groove.

Anyway, Lydian mode is nifty, as is shifting between that and other modes smile MUSIC THEORY!

Btw, if you like the sound of this, here's an older track that gets a very similar vibe across.

Really digging the orchestral sound of this arrangement. Very inspiring to break outside the metronome or specific meter and do a free form piece. The pedal point drone sounds like an organ reminiscent of Strauss. But also a bit of Ives "Unanswered Question" without the strings. The sounds are very organic. Really well done!

This is some epic high brow interplanetary space movie from the 70's stuff right here! nice!

Yaaaaaassss, gorgeous and contemplative. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Thanks! This is my new favorite comment on the Citadel. I'm not too familiar with the sources you're citing, but I'll have to give a listen!

Wonderful! I definitely seem to write from and get inspiration from space and space themed soundtracks.

YAAAAASSSSSS

this is just so gorgeous - it made me tear up a bit - i needed some optimism tonight - thank you

I gotta try going metronome-less more often, love freeform stuff like this. Turned out great, the synth patches are phenomenal and sit in the mix so well.

Lack of drums doesn't mean lack of groove, it just means you have to groove differently.
