I Gotta Believe

By Saucey-dough on May 10, 2020 10:08 pm

Not sure if anyone else has been watching "The Last Dance" on ESPN. I'm from Chicago and literally look forward to every episode. Its brought back so many memories, and it's been incredible watching the complexities of the team/front office as an adult. The 90's hip hop soundtrack has been on point too. Thought I'd give it a shot. I used samples from an old 90's gem we all used to play. The picture for this week wanted to try and capture the 90's in one shot. Whats more 90's than gym shoes hanging from up above?

Not gonna lie, when I saw the title “I Gotta Believe” I was convinced you did a PaRappa the Rapper remix.  Something to think about for the future.

Very cool man, nice change of pace.  Love that bass groove and the drum breakdown.  Sounds good!

Groovy man. That dabbling piano is perfect.

......The main bass line is from the dojo stage (kick, punch, chop), the beginning sample is the onion sensei, and that’s Parappa at the end saying “Yeah.” Haha.

6am WB listening? You're dedicated bro.

Man, I'm absolutely LOVING The last Dance....this really does put you in the 90s feel...high tops on a bball court, then heading home to play some nba jam.  the vinyl scratch-work sounds perfect in this.  Those tinny snares and toms work great in that middle section.  This whole song is great, love it all.

photo is really cool too!  is that the walkways between garage at your place?!

Haha, this is great. So old school. The scratching is perfect.

I thought I recognized the bass line...then the sensei came in and I knew it had to be true.  Sweet idea man.  You nailed the 90s feel, this is great.  YEAH

Haha ohhh fuck, I can hear it now.  Its been too long that it just went right over my head.

Very smooth. The bass lines and the very cool simple piano lines. Scratches, the vinyl effect. Very clean and well executed.

The scratches made the track! All I could think about was DJ Jazzy Jeff on the one's n two's helping me out with this track.

“Here we are just sitting in the car, I want you to show me if you can get far, just step on the gas.”

“Step on....gaaaaasssss”

You better believe.
