Wake of the Leviathan

By Saguaro Gigante on June 19, 2022 11:57 pm

This week I decided to go for some over the top death metal. I've always wanted to make a song in this style and it was really fun trying to figure out how to do it. These last few weeks have been rough and I think that sort of inspired my desire to do something darker and aggressive. I wanted to write lyrics that were more personal but that got overwhelming and by the time I was close to finishing I was feeling much better so I decided to just have some fun with general sci-fi nonsense. So the song is now about being devoured on a space ship by a giant space worm. Seems appropriate for the style. This was my first time trying to record vocals. Overall I'm satisfied with how they came out. I know the metal growls are not everybody's thing but I've always loved them and wanted to try them out myself. It was a blast! Definitely will be spending more time working on both harsh and clean vocals this year. This song had a lot of distorted guitar tracks so I had to learn more about mixing and EQ'ing which was cool because I haven't paid as much attention to that in a while.

lol god damn. Brutal. You're killing it with your guitar riffs/arrangement and the vocals came out nicely! Those really deep guttural growls sound ferocious. That guitar tone is so on point for that particular era of metal music. and I love that god damn transition at 4:15 haha. You seriously outdid yourself this week, it's a fantastic track through and through.

When you put in the time, you get results. Great job on the growling. Lyrics made me laugh. String arpeggios were unexpected, but made for a nice transition to the outro. Killer tune! Keep it up.

This takes me back to my band practice days with my friends in a tiny warehouse with cheap beer smile  The guitars sound awesome and the drums nail it down even more.  Love those chords right before the 3min mark which then leads into the suhweet solo.  The guitar morphing into a string arp was a nice touch.

Criminally underrated weeklybeats metal song of the year right here.
