Love this song -- my absolute favorite moment is the ending recitative ("So I’ve got to let you go and just no say a single thing") delivered dryly over a barely resonating ukulele strum, a perfect moment. Also really love how "and neither can you" interrupted the flow only to transform itself into a call-and-response sort of section. Love the lyrics, as always.

thanks as always, ilzxc! I appreciate your comments about the structure of the songs- I often find I just feel it out, as most of my work, very little theory is applied, mostly just instinct. though, hearing what is successful put into words helps me file it away easier and use it as a future tool.
