Many Months Ago

By sad_infamy_sings on March 20, 2022 5:23 pm

Remember back when we were friends all those many months ago?
Before you forgot about me, no more room in your flow (and treated me like a ghost)

Back then, I felt it but did you really care?

I mourn that memory, but I accept it’s long gone.
Volcanoes and glory, the two of us were so strong.

But now it’s clear to me where you’ve gone
You’ve given your heart to a perfect coward, someone who can do no wrong.
and neither can you,
I can’t even show you this song.

So I’ve got to let you go and just no say a single thing.
And hope one day you’ll look back with understanding.

and remember back when we were friends, all those months ago.

This song is very touchy. I love the fragile instrumentation and the melancholy you are expressing. Beautiful.

Hauntingly beautiful once again.

(Sorry was MIA for a couple of weeks)

Love this song -- my absolute favorite moment is the ending recitative ("So I’ve got to let you go and just no say a single thing") delivered dryly over a barely resonating ukulele strum, a perfect moment. Also really love how "and neither can you" interrupted the flow only to transform itself into a call-and-response sort of section. heart Love the lyrics, as always.

thanks as always, ilzxc! I appreciate your comments about the structure of the songs- I often find I just feel it out, as most of my work, very little theory is applied, mostly just instinct. though, hearing what is successful put into words helps me file it away easier and use it as a future tool.
